电气工程专业申请策略

提到电气/电子工程(EE) 所指的是一个宽泛的工程领域。从研究方向上，国内经常把EE分为两大方向：电机工程(Electrical Engineering，亦可翻译为电气工程)与电子工程(Electronics Engineering)。1）电机工程是指涉及到高电压、大电流、大功率的电气系统(如电能传输、电能变换、发电机及电动机)，着重于研究电能的产生、传输、分配、使用，俗称“强电”;2）电子工程则是指处理小信号的电子系统(如计算机和集成电路)着重于研究利用电子信号进行信息的传输，俗称“弱电”。然而随着信息技术的迅速发展，EE与其他学科的交叉领域拓宽，电子工程涵盖了更多其他专业的工程行为。总的来说，EE专业在美国可以大体归纳为以下这些方向：
1）集成电路设计(Integrated Circuit Design)：亦称微电路(microcircuit)，有些学校将其与微电子合并为一个专业招生，是研究将电路(主要包括半导体设备，也包括被动组件等)小型化的学科方向。
2）光电方向(Optics)：光电是以光的量子力学(quantum photonics)为基础，研究光子和电子，并应用于半导体材料上一门学科。
3）电机(Electric Machines)：研究新型电机设计及其先进的控制方法，为特定用户，如航空航天飞行器、大型船舰、机器人、电动汽车等特定应用，匹配电机和电机牵引方式，使得电机更加高效、更大功率，更小，更容易制造和更好匹配应用。
4）通信与信号处理(Communication and Signal Processing)：该学科关注的是通信过程中的信息传输和信号处理的原理和应用。

提问：美国电气工程研究生申请难度？

解答：对于硕士申请者，高GPA和GT蛮重要的。在专业排名前20名的学校中，大多数学校虽然只规定了最低3.0即可申请，实际上如果想往专排靠前的学校申请GPA最低仍然需要达到3.5才比较靠谱，TOEFL刷到100分比较稳妥。GRE方面大多数院校没有明确规定最低分数线，但是想申请排名靠前的学校的话，建议各位同学最好能达到325分左右。

提问：美国电气工程博士专业申请？

解答：对于Ph.D.申请者，难度要大很多。除了漂亮的三维成绩，过硬的科研经历才是名校的敲门砖。也可以说其实科研经历比语言成绩重要。都有扎实的科研基础、海外学校的交换经历。当然如果能在本科阶段发paper是更好不过了。
